Find a contractor

Tree removal and large pruning: who works in the 60305.

14 companies are listed. 13 are from the Village of River Forest licensed contractor report, extracted September 13, 2026. Each of those held a Village contractor license as of that report and is listed with the date it runs through. One is a company River Forest homeowners recommend, with no Village license date. 10 have a full profile from their website and public listings. Then a short checklist to take into any estimate.

Two sources: the Village licensed contractor report, and companies River Forest homeowners recommend. A listing is not a Village recommendation and not a license check. We do not license, inspect or guarantee any contractor. Confirm license, insurance and permits yourself before work begins.

Companies that do this work in River Forest

Two sources. 13 of the 14 companies are from the Village of River Forest contractor report, the official record of who is licensed and bonded to work here. The other one is a company River Forest homeowners recommend to each other, marked Neighbor recommendation, which is useful but is not a license check. Contractors working in River Forest must hold a Village contractor license and bond, and the Building Department publishes that list. Confirm the license yourself before work begins.

14 companies, 13 with a Village license date, 10 with a full profile.

Sources: the Village of River Forest licensed contractor report, extracted September 13, 2026, and 1 company River Forest homeowners recommend. A row with a license date held a Village contractor license and bond when the report was extracted, which is not a Village recommendation. A date that has since passed is flagged. Rows marked Neighbor recommendation did not come from the Village report, so they carry no date, and their licensing is not verified by this site. Check before you hire

Four things specific to tree removal work that separate a good estimate from a thin one. The buying guide explains each.

  • Certificate of insurance sent from the agent, not a photocopy
  • ISA Certified Arborist on staff, ideally on site
  • For an oak or elm 20 inches or more across, Village zoning approval before removal, and who applies for it
  • Stump depth and debris removal spelled out
  • Village of River Forest: No building permit for most private trees, and the contractor must be Village licensed and bonded. Since October 27, 2025, an oak or elm (other than Siberian elm) 20 inches or more in diameter at 4.5 feet needs written approval from the Zoning Administrator before removal, and unless it is hazardous, diseased or otherwise meets the code’s conditions it must be replaced or paid for (Village Code 10-24-5). Parkway trees belong to the Village. Contractors working in River Forest must hold a Village contractor license and bond, and the Building Department publishes that list.
